Joe Ricciutti
Staten Island Yankees
Staten Island Yankees President Joe Ricciutti was presented with the Executive of the Year award from Ballpark Digest at a pre-game ceremony at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Each year Ballpark Digest honors noteworthy accomplishments in the baseball world. Ricciutti, a lifelong Staten Islander, was recognized for turning around the Staten Island Yankees over the last two seasons. Since being named President in 2007, he’s completely revamped the front office, increased attendance via mini-plans and promotions, and restructured sponsorships.
Under his leadership, the team went from only 1 sellout in all the years the ballpark was open before 2007 to 5 sellouts in 2007, 17 sellouts in 2008 and an impressive 25 sellouts in 2009. They currently hold the #2 position in the New York Penn League in both Total Attendance and Average Attendance.
Ricciutti has also overseen enhancements to Richmond County Bank Ballpark, including an outfield LED video wall and a newly upgraded LED video scoreboard. He has grown the staff to 25 full-time staff members, up from 12 in 2006.
