Man charged with murder for cheap, costume jewelry

Police have charged a Bronx man for killing a teenager in Mariners Harbor for a $50 piece of fake jewelry.

Stanley Bowens, 21, reputedly a member of the Bloods gang, has been charged with shooting Shytik Bowman, 17, on Aug. 4, according to DNAinfo.

Bowman was visiting his aunt in Staten Island, and was walking out of a deli on Holland Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. when Bowens allegedly grabbed Bowman’s shiny but worthless bracelet and shot him three times.

Police charged Bowens with the murder when a gun they found in an unrelated drug arrest matched the murder weapon in the Bowman case, according to the Staten Island Advance.

The Advance said the weapon also matched the gun from another shooting on Staten Island, which was non-fatal.
