At Home Depot, you’re encouraged to help yourself. Police said a cashier at the Charleston store helped herself to $2,800 from the register.

According to the Staten Island Advance, April Samuels, 23, of Mariners Harbor, has been charged with walking away with the money on Aug. 10.

Police said she showed up on video-tape surveillance and that she also later admitted taking the money.

Samuels faces counts of grand larceny and stolen-property possession, plus a misdemeanor count of stolen-property possession and petit larceny, whatever that’s about.

Mostly, she’s charged with doing what pretty much anyone who’s ever worked in retail has thought about doing at some point.
