7-year-old dies from heart failure

Her family had arrived from Mexico three years ago, hoping to find a cure for the heart disease that had plagued their only child her entire life.

Heart failure is apparently what killed a 7-year-old girl in Grant City on Sunday.

Carla Sanchez, who had a cardiac condition, collapsed on the street near her home Saturday morning, and was found face down, her skin turning blue, according to the Staten Island Advance. She was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, where she died the next day.

Sanchez’s family had arrived from Mexico three years ago, hoping to find a cure for the heart disease that had plagued their only child her entire life.

Police who rushed her to the hospital initially thought she was choking. But her death was later linked to her ongoing health problem.
