Man charged with stealing water meter and selling it to scrapyard

Police say the suspect stole something like this - and it probably wasn't even this nice.

Think of something you wouldn’t even bother ripping off. Now imagine it might even be hard to pocket because it’s probably screwed onto something.

Somebody, somewhere, will steal it.

A purloined water meter landed a man in jail after he allegedly sold it to a West Brighton salvage yard, according to the New York Post.

Police arrested Frank Kessler, 41, on Thursday. They tracked him down after he sold the meter to J&J Recycling on Richmond Terrace last June, court papers say.

A water meter just measures the volume of water usage. Every home has one. You better start guarding yours.
