The neighbors are complaining about the noise at Moore Catholic High School’s football field. And they say Moore Catholic isn’t listening, according to the Staten Island Advance.
The folks who have to live nearby say music blares through the speakers at a deafening volumeĀ – sometimes during practice, sometimes during games, sometimes during the school day, sometimes on weekend mornings when people are trying to sleep in, sometimes even at night when the field is empty.
It’s been like this for years. Neighbors told the Advance the school ignores their complaints and that it claims there’s not a problem.
Moore’s Principal Douglas McManus, in the meantime, did not return messages from the Advance. Maybe he couldn’t hear the phone ring. Or maybe the answer lies in the Advance’s description of trying to leave a message:
“When the reporter first called the school Tuesday and said it was in reference to the noise complaints, the woman who had answered sighed before adding a sarcastic, ‘Oh, my God.’ “
A neighbor also gave the Advance a video taken Sept. 16, on a Friday afternoon – from a house across the street from school. When the windows were closed. And the field was empty. The noise is … it’s really obnoxious.
