Man charged with ending an argument by running someone down with his car

An Eltingville man is charged with deliberately hitting someone with his car in South Beach after an argument.

Police say Frances E. Morano, 45, pulled a U-turn with his 2001 Mercedes Benz four-door sedan at about 1:52 p.m. Saturday and hit the man on the corner of Hylan Boulevard and Kensington Avenue, according to the Staten Island Advance.

The victim was struck in the legs and knocked down, according to police. Court papers say he suffered swelling and bruising.

Morano, who reportedly has a record petit larceny from 2001, is charged with second- and third-degree assault, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
