There’s good news – and no news – about the planned bridge toll increases.
The good news is, apparently we no longer need those tolls to finance redeveloping the World Trade Center.
The “no news” is … the tolls are still going up. We’re just not altogether sure why anymore.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said in legal filings that none of the money from toll hikes will be used for the World Trade Center, according to the Associated Press reports.
Yet, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had both included the World Trade Center redevelopment as a reason to approve the increases.
So … uh … why do we still need them?
Neither governor has said anything on this topic so far, according to the AP.
