Man charged with stealing nail polish

A Rosebank man has been charged with stealing 143 bottles of nail polish from a pharmacy in Meiers Corners, according to the Staten Island Advance.

Oh, how I long to report that he stole it all for personal use.

But no. Police say Joseph Ballew, 22, of Tompkins Avenue, told them he sells stolen nail polish for $2 a bottle to a salon on Port Richmond Avenue.

Court papers reportedly don’t say the name of that salon.

Ballew is accused of stealing $1,256 worth of the shiny, shiny polish last week, which is enough beauty product to qualify the Tompkins Avenue man for a charge of felony grand larceny. He also faces counts of stolen-property possession and misdemeanor petit larceny.
