A mild snow for an odd winter – 1,500 lose power on Staten Island

About 1,500 people on Staten Island lost power over the weekend because of the icy storms, according to the New York Post.

Snow began falling early Saturday, just after 2 a.m. About three inches managed to build up, the Post reported.

It was a much delayed first-snow-of-winter. Though we had snow within the last few months, it wasn’t winter yet. The most recent snowfall took place in October.

This was a mild snow, and we still expect mild weather. Lows for the next five days are expected to be only just below freezing.
